LACO-WIKI

Integration of Geo-Wiki and LACOVAL

The added value of the system is that it allows a user to do map validation in one location, without the need for programming or other advanced statistical skills. The second added value is that the user shares their uploaded maps and validation data so that a reference data set is developed to serve various communities from remote sensing to ecology.

Hard Facts

The LACO-Wiki system was developed in the project, which encapsulates a validation workflow as four stages: 1. A user uploads a map to be validated using visual interpretation of satellite imagery or orthophotos, e.g., a land cover map. 2. They generate a statistical robust validation sample. 3. They set up a validation session and undertake the validation. 4. They generate an accuracy assessment report.
